So someone gave me three bars of Irish Spring soap for Christmas...yes, they gave me - soap - still trying to figure that one out, but I digress.
It was a three pack of Irish Spring and just out of curiosity I opened up one of the boxes. The first thing I noticed was being blown away by the smell - and not in a good way. It smells like someone took a can of Axe body spray and put it in bar form and then shoved it down my nose. I used to use it, way back in the day, before I started making my own soap and I guess I forgot what a truly horrible odor emanated from it.
Once I got over my initial shock and disgust of the smell -I was interested in what was in it.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: TRICLOCARBAN. OTHER INGREDIENTS: SOAP (SODIUM TALLOWATE, SODIUM COCOATE AND/OR SODIUM PALM KERNELATE TYPES) WATER, STEARIC ACID (SKIN CONDITIONER) COCONUT AND/OR PALM KERNEL ACD, GLYCERIN (SKIN CONDITIONER), FRAGRANCE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, PEG-12 POLYSORBATE 20, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, TETRASODIUM EDTA, BHT D&C GREEN NO. 8, FD&C GREEN NO. 3.
OK, so first ingredient - tallow - check, same as mine. The coconut oil - check there, so far so good. The PEG-12 - umm, OK, POLYSORBATE 20, ummmmm, TITANIUM OXIDE - no thanks, TATRASODIUM EDTA - not in mine , BHT D&C Green NO. 8 - not sure what all those are - but my soap has none of that garbage you cannot pronounce or mysterious numbers next to it - GREEN NO. 8? What did 1 -7 no t make the cut?
RW Body soap is made from a few key ingredients with nothing extra added to prolong shelf life, make it smell like a 13 yr old boy after gym class, or add coloring to it so you what think you are actually in an Irish Spring?
Pure organic hormone, antibiotic, steroid free tallow from happy cows - with pure virgin coconut oil. Sodium Hydroxide to saponify the fatty acids and then a few drops of essential oils. Pure, thick lathering, cleansing soap that will leave your skin baby soft.
