Cutting Boards - Plastic vs Wood

You may think, or have been led to believe that plastic cutting boards are safer and easier to clean than wooden cutting boards - but you would be mistaken.  Although it would seem on the surface - that the surface of a plastic board would be much easier to clean as well as disinfect, but facts show a close grained wood like maple or cherry is able to more easily be disinfected that a used plastic cutting board.
